Costs Involved in an SSDI or SSI Case

Fee for assisting with disability applications

Here at Jan Dils Attorneys at Law, we never charge an upfront fee for assisting with disability applications or appeals. This applies for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI). We will only collect a fee if we are eventually successful in getting a claim approved.

For SSDI and SSI cases, the main costs are our Social Security disability attorney fees (set by law at 25 percent of the past-due benefits) or $6,000—whichever amount is less. Again, the client only pays this fee if we are successful.

Our fee for VA disability is 20% of your back pay award. Our social security disability attorney fees are strictly non-negotiable, but we will not collect any attorney fees if your disability benefits case is unsuccessful.

Are there hidden expenses?

We can assure you that there are never hidden Social Security lawyer fees when we help with your SSDI or SSI claims. One of the promises we make to our clients is to provide a clear picture of any possible fees that may come up in their cases.

For example, our clients may need additional medical reports requested and copied from healthcare providers. If we believe this will be necessary, we will notify the client as soon as we have any indication of this and also help them make arrangements to pay those fees.

Also keep in mind, Jan Dils Attorneys at Law does not charge for phone calls, paperwork, routine overhead expenses, or our travel to the hearing.

Our services to our clients

Once a representation agreement is signed, our attorneys begin to work on your case. We will inform the proper authorities that our office is representing your claim. We will appeal your denial from Social Security. We will obtain copies of your file. We will collect and review evidence, including independent medical examinations when necessary. We will then send this evidence to the Social Security Administration (SSA).

After we request a hearing on your behalf, we will then meet with you and help you prepare for it. We will, of course, attend your hearing and advocate on your behalf. You will remain informed every step of the way with full understanding of what you can expect next.

We will also keep track of your case to make sure that the SSA does not drop the ball. And if we receive a successful outcome, we will make sure that they pay you the full amount. If we lose, we will clearly explain your options for further appeals.
